Which small/medium- and large-sized companies will celebrate the honor as the top Best Places to Work in 2013 at the awards program in December? Team PA announced the alphabetical list of companies who placed today.

The alphabetical list of the 2013 Best Places to Work in Pennsylvania recipients was announced today by Team Pennsylvania Foundation (Team PA), a founding partner and lead sponsor.

A partnership of Team PA, the PA Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED) and Journal Multimedia, the Best Places to Work list represents companies with over 34,100 employees throughout Pennsylvania.

Final rankings will be awarded and honored at the Best Places to Work in PA evening awards ceremony on December 5 at the Lancaster County Convention Center in downtown Lancaster.

“Team Pennsylvania Foundation is proud to be a founding and ongoing partner in the 100 Best Places to Work in Pennsylvania competition,” said Matt Zieger, president and CEO, Team Pennsylvania Foundation. “Talented and in-demand employees from around the world can use the Best Places to Work listing as a tool to find their next employer, and employers use the information from the survey to increase employee retention, refine corporate policy and ultimately boost profits.”

“When Governor Corbett was sworn into office, he made a commitment to develop an economic environment that allows the private sector to grow and create jobs,” said Alan Walker, Secretary, DCED. “In a similar way, you as business leaders are creating an outstanding work environment that cultivates success and growth. A good place to work means a place to develop, to build a future, to build a family and to sustain a community.”

The Best Places to Work in PA Program is generally made up of two groups of companies: 50 medium-sized (25-250 employees) and 50 large-sized companies (251 employees or more). Through the research process, a survey is sent to both the employers and employees from hundreds of companies from across the commonwealth.

However, this year, more small/medium-sized companies scored higher marks than large-sized companies, so the list is made up of 72 small/medium-sized firms and 28 from the large category.

Winning companies achieve the highest combined scores in a twofold evaluation: review of a company’s workplace policies, practices, philosophies, systems and demographics (25%); and results of an employee survey to measure the employee experience (75%).

Using a formula similar to Fortune’s “100 Best Companies to Work for in America,” the Best Companies Group surveys and scores the workplace practices survey along with the employee survey and each Best Places to Work candidate is given an overall score.

The following is the listing of the small/medium- and large-sized companies in alphabetical order by city:
