SuperUser safeguards its customers’ critical information

Owning a business is a time-honored tradition in Carolyn Boser Newhouse’s family.

The roots of entrepreneurship are deeply embedded in the family’s DNA, dating back several generations to when her grandparents – and eventually her father – owned and operated farms, garden shops and farmer’s markets.

Boser Newhouse made the quantum leap from the farm to the high tech world of Information Technology (IT) Communications when she opened her own business, SuperUser Technolgies in Bradford, McKean County, in 1993. Today, the company also has offices located in Buffalo, New York.

“I have to give my father and mother all the credit,” Boser Newhouse said. “When I was a kid, it wasn’t ‘Are you going to go to college? It was what are you going to major in when you go to college’?”

Boser Newhouse also admits having a fascination with computers as a young girl. That fascination would lead her to create a company that “puts wires in the wall, waves in the air and (the) eye in the sky.”

“I was probably a geek early on in life, and I was very excited when I learned you could go to the store and buy one (a computer),” Boser Newhouse said. “I couldn’t wait to get on that computer and learn how I could program it to make it do what I wanted it to do.”

SuperUser Technologies provides Information Technology security solutions for its customers

According to the company’s website, SuperUser Technologies, in conjunction with their partners, is an integrator with specialization in the areas of access control and video surveillance. In other words, SuperUser provides network-based security solutions for businesses.

“We excel at innovative and practical cabling and wireless implementations for our customer’s Information Technologies deployment,” she said. “Wired and wireless infrastructure serves as the foundation to a company’s network that must meet the ongoing demands of a company’s operation – quickly and easily. We are committed to being experts in wired and wireless technology, as well as IP-based security solutions and applying our industry expertise and experience in a practical manner to our clients’ benefit.”

With customers located throughout the Mid-Atlantic region, Boser Newhouse said SuperUser works with companies as small as Mom and Pop shops to large corporations. Clients run the gamut from manufacturing to government agencies to warehouse distribution centers to companies in the hospitality industry.

“We provide low-cost versatility and mobility to our customers,” Boser Newhouse said.

As far as the immediate future of her company, Boser Newhouse has recently taken a leave of absence after she was named Deputy Secretary of Innovation and Investment at the Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED). She said her company will continue to thrive because she knows it is in good hands.

“There is a quote that references the fact that ‘a sign of a true leader is someone who can step out of the picture’,” Boser Newhouse said. “This is a great opportunity for those staff members who have had longevity with the company – this affords them an opportunity to grow into a C-level role at SuperUser. They’re excited and I am excited about this opportunity.”

Carolyn Boser Newhouse on Team PA:
“I connected with Team Pennsylvania because of how dynamic they are, how effective they are and when I saw their ability to establish private/public partnerships to get stuff done, that really resonated with me.
