Vision

Team Pennsylvania Foundation is a collaboration of the highest levels of public/private leadership to support Pennsylvania’s goal to be a national leader in education and economic development. Our support results in innovation that drives entrepreneurial spirit, improves and strengthens our workforce, and contributes to a growing and vibrant Pennsylvania economy.

History

In the mid-1990s, Pennsylvania’s economic vitality was in jeopardy.

Top business leaders were concerned that burdensome governmental regulations were eroding their economic competitiveness in a global marketplace. These leaders wanted a seat at the table with Pennsylvania’s policymakers to share their concerns and work together to ensure Pennsylvania remained a key player in a global economy.

In 1997, the concept of Team PA was born. Business leaders and senior government officials came together in a unique collaboration to focus on Pennsylvania’s job growth and business environment and coordinate efforts with other economic development and civic organizations for the common good of the commonwealth.

When Team PA and its Foundation merged a few years later, Team PA Foundation was structured as a not-for-profit 501(c)(3), and still operates independent of a single government entity. Team PA is the only organization in the state who can claim its board is co-chaired by the commonwealth’s CEO – the governor – and comprised of leaders from the public, business and economic development sectors.

The Foundation recently reaffirmed its strategic vision on three critical areas that are the cornerstones of the Foundation’s work: business growth; education & workforce development; and government efficiency.

In 2011, the Corbett administration reconfirmed the state’s long-standing public/private partnership with Team Pennsylvania Foundation when the governor signed an executive order highlighting the organization’s commitment to advancing economic development across the commonwealth.

As we look to the future, Team Pennsylvania is proud of its past but focused on the many critical challenges still threatening the economic prosperity of the Keystone State.
