When the Spanish wind energy company Gamesa planned to expand its operations in the United States and expressed an interest in coming to Pennsylvania, the Governor’s Action Team (GAT) sprang into action.
GAT was created to respond quickly with up-to-date information and provide focused attention to companies looking to expand or relocate their operations in PA.
Gamesa is one of many success stories involving GAT and Team PA, which provides grant funding of more than $100,000 annually in support of GAT’s ongoing mission.
Team PA assists GAT by providing the funding that supports GAT in three critical services:
Tax Analysis – Location specific tax comparisons and Keystone Opportunity Zones (KOZ) tax implication reports (KPMG on retainer for these services)
Client Services – General customer service funding which supports site tours, staff training, hospitality needs, travel costs, etc.
GAT Alert Tracking System – distribution of site selection requests
As the single point of contact for businesses that are considering Pennsylvania as a site for a facility location or expansion, GAT works with domestic and international businesses, as well as professional site consultants, on projects involving significant investment and job creation opportunities.
During the most recent fiscal year, Foundation support of GAT projects resulted in 14 engagements of which nine are either successfully created or in an active status. This backing helped create over 3,030 jobs and another 2,650 jobs retained with private capital investment of $1.36 billion.
“Metro Bank and Team PA are committed to business growth, job growth, municipal efficiency, and being part of the fabric of Pennsylvania. We are both committed to the overall success of Pennsylvania and its industries at the local, regional and state levels.”
