Team PA's Industry Partnership program is designed to bridge the gap between employers with workforce needs and residents looking for employment opportunities.
PROGRAM UPDATE: Gov. Tom Corbett recently strengthened the Industry Partnerships program when he signed a bill into law which amends the Workforce Development Act.
The new law creates statutory guidelines for the establishment and operation of “Industry Partnerships” to foster workforce development, and also makes other minor changes.
The following is additional information on Team PA’s involvement with this worthwhile educational initiative.
One of the Foundation’s greatest success stories was the creation of the Industry Partnership Initiative.
Originated by Team PA and administered by the PA Department of Labor and Industry, this program convenes leaders from specific industries to discuss their workforce issues and map solutions to enhance employee productivity.
Team PA provided a $250,000 grant to seed the development of this program and partnerships throughout the commonwealth, that initial investment has led to more than 70,000 employees being trained in this nationally recognized program.
The Industry Partnership program is one of many Team Pennsylvania Foundation success stories with more than 70,000 Pennsylvania workers being trained in this nationally recognized program.
Recently, the vitality of this program has risen to the next level.
The new law formalizes and strengthens the Industry Partnership program to address the ongoing challenges of providing a fully trained workforce for Pennsylvania businesses.
“This program is a win-win for workers and Pennsylvania businesses alike,” Rich Hudic, Team PA President & CEO, said. “Over 70,000 workers have received training that, in the process, has boosted their wages, while business have benefited by addressing their workforce needs. Team PA is proud to have founded this program and looks forward to it playing a continuing vital role in our collective efforts to ensure there is a properly trained workforce for the business community.”
