State agencies cited for excellence in innovation
Awards in innovation were handed out to recognize state agencies for their
efficiency, but the real winners were Pennsylvania residents.
During the past fiscal year, the 34 state government agencies streamlined
services, cut operational costs and implemented innovative practices to the tune
of a whopping $175 million. (An additional 140 projects with an estimated $200
million in savings and productivity are in progress.)

Savings, stewardship drives innovation at state agency
At the beginning of each staff meeting, Beth Woods asks her co-workers a

Department of General Services (DGS) to realize savings of $7.7 million annually
in its real estate division alone and another $40 million through the
consolidation of the state’s vehicle fleet.
DGS won two of the top three awards at the Governor's Innovation Expo, a program that celebrates innovation in state government.
