ireland-mission-e1477928920498DCED Secretary Dennis Davin traveled to Ireland and the United Kingdom earlier this month on a business development mission to attract foreign direct investment to Pennsylvania. The delegation, comprised of Secretary Davin and key members of his executive team, attended meetings in 11 cities over a period of 7 days. They focused their attention on establishing relationships with service providers, influencers and businesses.

Activities included exhibiting at Medtec Ireland in Galway City on October 4-5. Medtec Ireland is the largest and longest running event serving the Irish medical device design and manufacturing market – over 100 companies from 10 countries exhibited at this year’s show. Pennsylvania was the only state present. Through partnership with Team PA, the Pennsylvania delegation had the opportunity to participate in the Annual Dinner for the Dublin Chamber of Commerce – the largest business dinner in Ireland. The event attracted over 1,400 chamber members and 200 Ireland CEO’s. Pennsylvania sponsored a table and invited investment prospects to attend as their guests.

On the final day of the trip, Pennsylvania offered the keynote remarks at the One Nucleus Leadership Seminar in Hinxton, Cambridge, UK. Secretary Davin provided an overview of the life sciences ecosystem present in Pennsylvania and discussed the network of world-class R&D institutions, universities, incubators and strategic investments available to support the ecosystem.
