Harrisburg, PA – During the 2019 Pennsylvania Farm Show, PA Agriculture Secretary Russell Redding announced the department will showcase six Pennsylvania-based companies that offer technology innovations to advance the agriculture industry. Featured technologies will include crop-monitoring drones; implantable health trackers for livestock; sensory robotics for greenhouse production; potting soil made from recyclable materials; facility and animal monitoring systems; and systems to treat pollution, manage nutrients, and produce sustainable fertilizer.
“This year’s Farm Show theme is Inspiring Pennsylvania’s Story,” Secretary Redding said. “These technologies will inspire the stories of our future, a future of continued growth, prosperity, and productivity. We hope you’ll stop by to be inspired by the revolutionary technologies, and the innovators who are driving the future of our industry.”
Company leaders will demonstrate their innovations, and be available to talk with agriculture and food producers, investors and others on Saturday, January 5, Sunday, January 6, and Wednesday, January 9, from 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM, and from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM, at the PA Department of Agriculture’s booth in the Main Hall of the Pennsylvania Farm Show Complex and Expo Center.
The 2019 Pennsylvania Farm Show Innovation Showcase will feature Farm Jenny LLC, based in Mars, Butler County; Phospholutions of State College, Centre County; Livestock Labs, Panacea AG, Inc., and Skycision, all based in Pittsburgh, Allegheny County; and PittMoss LLC of Ambridge, Beaver County, which received funding support from one of the Department of Community and Economic Development’s (DCED’s) Ben Franklin Technology Partners, Innovation Works.
Innovation Showcase Participants:
The showcase is part of a partnership between the department and Team Pennsylvania. Through the partnership, the Wolf Administration has formed the Pennsylvania Agriculture Advisory Board, produced an economic impact analysis of PA’s agriculture industry, and is working to foster new growth opportunities for agricultural economic development across the state. The showcase also demonstrates Governor Wolf’s commitment to the tech sector in Pennsylvania through initiatives like the Ben Franklin Technology Partners, the Life Science Greenhouses, and Innovate in Pennsylvania.
