Team PA Partners with Commonwealth on Trade Mission, Energy Investment Opportunities
Tom Murphy, Senior Managing Director, Strategic Energy Initiatives at Team Pennsylvania, recently represented the Commonwealth in a trade mission to Denmark and Germany organized by the Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED), through the Office of International Business Development (OIBD).
The mission took place the first week of April and was in partnership with the U.S. Department of Energy, as a means of answering questions from European energy-oriented companies, related to making investments in the U.S., with Murphy focused specifically on attracting additional investment to Pennsylvania.
Tom worked in close partnership with David Briel and Jason Hunt at OIBD to coordinate the exchange, in collaboration with Geert Hoven and David Moock, the OIBD contract representatives for PA in Denmark and Germany respectively.
Tom presented to a large audience of European industry leaders, along with follow-up one on one interactions, to explain in-depth, the opportunities and pathways to invest in current and rapidly emerging energy technology deployment in Pennsylvania.
Pennsylvania is a rapidly evolving energy powerhouse in the U.S. with natural gas, renewables, nuclear, large power generation capacities, and now major new investments in hydrogen. During the time in Copenhagen, Denmark and Dusseldorf, Germany, numerous new business contacts were made, some of which have already made follow-up requests for additional information on proceeding to potential investment decisions.
