Team Pennsylvania is dedicated to expanding Pennsylvania’s economy. Our work is defined by three key program areas that we believe are the building blocks of a healthy and vibrant economy – business growth, education and workforce development and government efficiency.
Team Pennsylvania accomplishes our work by convening industry leaders and policy experts to work together to make Pennsylvania a national leader in economic development. We have worked on a variety of programs over the past 20 years in an assortment of roles and capacities. Below is a snapshot of some of our most recent impacts:
Career Readiness in Pennsylvania
Through collaboration with the Departments of Education and Labor & Industry, the Intermediate Unit system and school districts, Team PA is guiding the efforts to build a strong infrastructure to support successful career readiness activities. Most recently, Senate Bill 714 went to the Senate Labor & Industry Committee as the first step in establishing the Pennsylvania Council on Career Readiness. Read the language of the bill here.
Pennsylvania International Week – Investment
Team PA partnered with PA’s Office of International Business Development (OIBD) and several regional economic development partners and business leaders to host Bringing the World to PA 2017 for the Pennsylvania Investment team. This two-week tour provided an opportunity for the Investment Representatives, from a dozen unique global markets, to see Pennsylvania’s business and community assets first-hand and be trained by our local partners to help promote Pennsylvania to foreign prospects.
Business Development Mission to China & Korea
Team PA and OIBD partnered on the recent business development mission to China and Korea. Travelling in tandem with the Philadelphia Orchestra for the third year in a row, the delegation from Pennsylvania – including representatives from OIBD, the City of Philadelphia, Lehigh Valley EDC and Chester County EDC – attended two weeks of meetings with prospects, investors and multipliers in China and Korea. Study on Pennsylvania’s Petrochemical, Plastics Manufacturing Future
After Shell’s announcement regarding plans to construct an ethane cracker plant in Western Pennsylvania, Team PA provided funding for a comprehensive study and in-depth report on Pennsylvania’s future in petrochemical and plastics manufacturing industries. The study will be used to inform future business attraction efforts for the commonwealth. Access the executive summary and full report here.
