Team Pennsylvania Releases Scenarios Imagining PA’s Energy Future Through 2050

In the fall of 2024, a diverse and representative subset of Team Pennsylvania’s Energy Horizons Cross-Sector Collaborative participated in a series of workshops to imagine the societal, political, and economic stories that might play out over the next 25 years. The resulting work product is a series of three scenarios, which imagine different plausible, hypothetical futures for Pennsylvania and the implications for energy and the economy through 2050.
“Scenario planning isn’t forecasting or predicting – it exercises a different part of the brain, and it’s the kind of activity that countries and corporations undertake to prepare for the future. It’s a very unusual thing for a state to take on this work,” said Abby Smith, President and CEO of Team Pennsylvania. “But our energy economy is like that of a country, and Pennsylvania has, throughout its history, played a critical role in meeting the world’s energy demands. As we think about how the state will continue to do so, it’s imperative that we all find ways to challenge the assumptions we hold and the implications of the choices we make now for the future.”
We invite you to learn more about this work during a webinar on March 17th at 1:00 p.m., and if you’re interested in our team presenting these scenarios to your network, please contact us at energy@teampa.com.
