Team Pennsylvania Launches Robotics & Tech Collaborative to Accelerate Adoption of Advanced Technologies Across the Commonwealth

HARRISBURG, PA – The Team Pennsylvania Foundation, the non-profit committed to accelerating Pennsylvania’s long-term economic future, announced today the launch of the Robotics & Tech Cross-Sector Collaborative, a statewide network that brings together leaders in business and industry, the nonprofit sector, organized labor, academia, and government to accelerate the deployment and adoption of advanced technologies across the commonwealth.

“Our role is to bring together the leaders across Pennsylvania as a neutral, nonpartisan, state-level convener so people and organizations can connect and collaborate to unlock new opportunities,” said Abby Smith, President & CEO of Team Pennsylvania. “Robotics and technology consistently emerge as economic multipliers for Pennsylvania, and to realize our full potential in these areas, we believe collaboration is an essential ingredient.”

With a focus on real-world application, the Robotics & Tech Collaborative will work to ensure that emerging technologies are aligned with market needs and deliver broad-based benefits to communities and companies alike.

“Pittsburgh has long been at the forefront of robotics and advanced industries, and what we’ve learned here is that innovation thrives when it’s connected—across industries, across regions, and across public and private sectors, said Sean Luther, President & CEO of InnovatePGH and Team Pennsylvania Board Director. “The Robotics & Tech Collaborative is a powerful step toward aligning Pennsylvania’s extraordinary assets to accelerate adoption and drive inclusive economic growth statewide.”

The Collaborative will align on shared priorities, identify strategic opportunities, and strengthen Pennsylvania’s position as a hub for robotics, intelligent systems, industrial automation, artificial intelligence, and enabling technologies.

“Technology touches every corner of our economy, and Pennsylvania’s future depends on our ability to innovate and adapt,” said Jen Gilburg, Deputy Secretary of Innovation & Entrepreneurship at the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development. “The Shapiro Administration’s Economic Development Strategy specifically calls out robotics and technology as one of five key industry sectors where we should target resources and maximize opportunities for growth, and the Collaborative will help provide the vision and coordination needed to ensure we stay ahead of the curve and remain competitive in a rapidly changing global economy.”

Team Pennsylvania currently convenes three other cross-sector collaboratives in energy, advanced agriculture, and manufacturing.
