Strategic Impact Initiatives DRAFT

Strategic Impact Initiatives are project-based efforts designed to unlock high-potential opportunities through a discrete group of coordinated stakeholders. These initiatives align with organizational priorities, include support from committed partners, attract diverse funding sources, and deliver measurable economic impact.

While Cross-Sector Collaboratives provide an open forum for convening partners, sharing knowledge, and generating ideas, Strategic Impact Initiatives are action-oriented projects driven by a core group of stakeholders to advance targeted outcomes that accelerate broader economic growth.

Team Pennsylvania has identified the following Strategic Impact Initiatives for the near term:

Ag-Tech

With a strong AI, robotics, and agricultural research ecosystem, Pennsylvania can leverage technology, R&D, and innovation to boost efficiency from on-farm operations to food processing and manufacturing.

AI/Data Centers/Energy

Capitalizing on Pennsylvania’s position as leader in artificial intelligence and increased demand for supercomputing power; opportunity to bridge the rural-urban divide by positioning smaller data centers in rural communities and piloting innovative energy technologies to power them.

AI/Robotics/Semiconductor Supply Chain

Accelerating AI, robotics, and manufacturing in Pennsylvania by supporting component manufacturing growth across the supply chain to maintain competitive advantage and capitalize on Pennsylvania’s AI and industrial strengths.

Biogas

Upgrading of biogas to renewable natural gas (RNG) to capitalize on Pennsylvania’s abundant organic waste sources, strong agricultural and industrial base, and the push to address sustainability; collaboration between Pennsylvania public sector, Dutch government, academia, industry, and trade partners.

Hardwoods

Advancing technology across the hardwood value chain to address long-standing industry pain points—including labor shortages, processing inefficiencies, and supply chain challenges; expanding trade partnerships and cultivating new markets for innovative, waste-to-value hardwood byproducts.

High-Tech Greenhouses

Tapping the state’s agricultural roots to address growing interest in sustainable farming practices, the increasing demand for locally grown produce due to sustainability and tariffs, and the ability to grow produce year-round using innovative technologies.

Life Sciences Supply Chain

Supporting life sciences ecosystem in Pennsylvania by strengthening its supply chain, fostering domestic and regional sourcing connections, and creating opportunities to move beyond research and translational outcomes to expand commercialization.

Nuclear

Pennsylvania has the energy assets, the infrastructure, and the opportunity to invest in our nuclear industry for the sake of our energy security with a growing domestic and global market for clean power and nuclear technologies.
